At TechHR India 2026 we ran one life-size HoloBox911 hologram display on the WorkTech Expo floor, with interactive AI avatars, a live holographic beam-in and gesture-controlled games.

Over two days at Yashobhoomi, 6 and 7 August 2026, the display carried:

  • Interactive AI avatars of Jonty Rhodes and People Matters chief executive Pushkaraj Bidwai. Delegates asked questions in their own words and the avatars answered in natural language, rather than playing a fixed video.
  • A live holographic beam-in of GrowthSchool founder Vaibhav Sisinty, captured at his location and shown life-size on the floor, with two-way audio so he could hear delegates and reply without travelling
  • An avatar department selector, gesture-controlled games that needed no controller, headset or app, and in-app AI video creation

One HoloBox, six experiences: People Matters TechHR India 2026

Summary

At People Matters TechHR India 2026, we ran one life-size HoloBox hologram display on the expo floor at Yashobhoomi on 6 and 7 August 2026. Over the two days it hosted AI avatars of Jonty Rhodes and People Matters chief executive Pushkaraj Bidwai, a live beam-in of GrowthSchool founder Vaibhav Sisinty, and four other experiences. More than 250 CHROs, directors and senior HR leaders engaged with it.

The brief

People Matters TechHR India is Asia's largest HR conference. The plan was to put a single unit on the expo floor and have it do several jobs across the two days: hold one-to-one conversations, bring in a remote speaker live, and give delegates walking past something quick to try. TFG was the knowledge partner.

What we built

We set up one HoloBox and loaded it with six experiences:

  • An interactive AI avatar of Jonty Rhodes
  • An interactive AI avatar of Pushkaraj Bidwai, chief executive of People Matters
  • A live holographic beam-in of Vaibhav Sisinty, founder of GrowthSchool
  • An avatar department selector
  • Gesture-controlled games
  • In-app AI video creation

AI avatars that answer questions

The avatars were built from source material about the person and their role, not from a scripted video. Delegates asked questions in their own words and the avatar answered in natural language, so each conversation was different.

A live speaker beamed in

Vaibhav Sisinty was captured at his own location and shown life-size inside the HoloBox on the event floor. Two-way audio let him hear delegates at the venue and reply live, without travelling.

How it worked on the day

Delegates walked up to the HoloBox with no headset, app or training. They spoke to the avatars, used the department selector, and played the gesture-controlled games with their hands and body. Longer one-to-one conversations ran alongside quick games and photo moments, so the unit suited both delegates with time to talk and those passing through.

Results

More than 250 CHROs, directors and senior HR leaders engaged with the HoloBox across the two-day event. One unit carried six different experiences, including two interactive avatars and a live remote speaker.

Frequently asked questions

Were the avatars interactive, or a recorded loop?

They were interactive. Delegates asked questions in their own words and the AI avatar replied in natural language. Nothing was a fixed video or pre-recorded loop.

How does live holographic streaming work?

The remote speaker is captured at their location and shown life-size inside the HoloBox at the event. Two-way audio lets them hear people at the venue and respond live.

How is an interactive AI avatar built?

The avatar is set up around the information and role it represents. You provide relevant event or business material as source content, and the avatar uses it to answer questions in natural language. No scripted video is needed.

Do visitors need a headset, an app or any training?

No. Visitors walk up to the HoloBox and talk to it or use gestures. There is nothing to wear or install.

How many people can one unit engage across an event?

At TechHR India 2026, more than 250 senior HR leaders engaged with one unit over two days. Numbers vary by experience: one-to-one conversations take longer than games, photo moments or other quick interactions.

What does the unit need on site?

The HoloBox is a self-contained display unit with an onboard PC for local content playback. Space, power and network needs depend on the experience being run, so we confirm them with the event team before installation.

What does it cost to put a HoloBox at a conference?

It depends on the event format, duration, location, content and level of on-site support. Conference deployments are usually arranged as event rentals.

Can we rent for one event, or do we have to buy?

Both are possible. Rent for a single conference or exhibition, or buy the unit for a permanent installation.

Can we use a HoloBox for an internal event?

Yes. It also works for internal conferences, employee engagement, leadership communication, induction and training programmes, with content adapted to the audience.

About TechHR India 2026

People Matters TechHR is an annual conference and exhibition on HR and work technology, run by the HR media company People Matters. It pairs a multi-track conference with a WorkTech Expo where HR technology companies show their products, and it is aimed at CHROs, HR leaders and the executives and founders around them. People Matters describes it as Asia’s largest HR and Work Tech conference; that is the organiser’s own positioning.

Dates, venue and organiser

  • Dates: Thursday 6 and Friday 7 August 2026
  • Venue: Yashobhoomi, India International Convention and Expo Centre, Dwarka, New Delhi

TechHR began as TechHR'14 on 22 August 2014 at The Leela, Gurgaon, with more than 400 delegates expected. People Matters added a Singapore edition in 2016 and the shorter TechHR Pulse format in Southeast Asia and Indian cities.

Agenda and formats

The theme was about the balance between automation and human judgement. The agenda ran in four tracks, which the organisers call Fastlanes:

  • The New HR Operating System (HROS) Edge: the systems, processes and data under hiring, performance and pay
  • The Leadership Edge: how leadership changes when much of the operating layer is automated
  • The Human+Tech Experience Edge: the employee experience where technology mediates it
  • The Sustainable Innovation Edge: innovation that lasts, including a masterclass on change resilience by Jason Averbook of Mercer

Formats included C-Suite Huddles, the People Matters THINK TANK, Talent Snack case studies, TechHR Lighthouse Talks and Big Questions debates streamed on LinkedIn. Named speakers included Marc Effron of the Talent Strategy Group, Holger Mueller of Constellation Research and Jason Averbook of Mercer. The WorkTech Expo and a Startup Zone ran alongside, with awards, mentorship sessions and the TechHR Night Fest.
